In Balinese culture, the Naga dragon is more than a mythical creature—it is a sacred guardian of protection, power, and prosperity. Often seen guarding temples and sacred gates, Naga represents the deep connection between the earthly and divine realms. One of Bali’s most cherished legends tells the tale of Naga and the Pearl—a love story between the dragon who resides on the Tiga Gunung volcanoes and his elusive lover, the pearl, hidden beneath the sea. Each twilight, Naga dives into the ocean to kiss his beloved, and by dawn, his glistening wet scales shower the rice fields, blessing the land with fertility and abundance.

Indonesia’s reverence for dragons extends beyond Bali. In Javanese mythology, Sang Hyang Antaboga is a dragon serpent deity, a mystical figure from ancient Hindu-Buddhist traditions. Passed down through generations, the legend of Antaboga reflects a shared belief in the spiritual power of dragons, a timeless symbol woven into the rich cultural tapestry of the archipelago.

This bell has two sides, with green dragon on one side and yellow dragon on the other side. Meticulously carved and painted by the Balinese village artisan.
